Mahmud [muddy]

My name is Mahmud, known on Instagram as MahmudTheMedium, and Muddy from my graffiti days. I am an artist based in Chicago and I have been creating art for most of my life. It started with pencils, then markers, which then led to graffiti, and then acrylics. Currently, I primarily paint on canvas with acrylics, I create mixed media illustrations on bristol paper, as well as digital artwork. Within my art, I have developed a few original characters that represent a constant battle between negative and positive energy within my work. I strive to tell new and/or continued stories with each new piece that I create. My pieces can sometimes represent various panels within the same story board in my head. My inspirations and influences stem from day to day life, music, anime, and film. If something can evoke an emotion out of me, chances are it will inspire my next piece in some way, shape, or form.

Thanks for checking me out!

Shot from the Art Colony's The Lost Artists Show in November 2017. I had the chance to hang some of my original pieces at the Art Colony's Pre-holiday Art Show in Chicago's Roscoe Village neighborhood. It was a great night of art, poetry, as well as fun with new and old friends!
