Onion City Memories Closing Night Open Mic

All good things must come to an end 😢, including my current solo exhibition Onion City Memories.

Join us on Feb 27th for a special closing night celebration of Onion City Memories at @connectgallery_ with an open mic night that brings the community into the heart of the exhibition. This evening is an open invitation for poets, storytellers, musicians, and creatives of all kinds to share their voices amongst an art exhibition that is entirely narrative driven and inspired by great story telling. Whether you want to step up to the mic or simply soak in the stories, sounds, and art on the walls, this night is about connection, reflection, and creative exchange. Come celebrate the final moments of Onion City Memories by adding your own story to the room and closing out the show together. See you Friday February 27th from 6-9pm at Connect Gallery!

Bad Luck Love!

Bad Luck Love!

Happy Friday the 13th.
Valentine’s Day is around the corner… which means love might be in the air — but a little bad luck might be lurking too.

If you haven’t experienced my Onion City Memories exhibition at Connect Gallery yet, this might be the perfect night to change that.

🖤 A Special Experience: Bad Luck Love

They say great art comes from emotion — the good, the messy, and everything in between.
For one night only, we’re turning the exhibition into an interactive artistic scavenger hunt.

Here’s the challenge:

  • Match 9 paintings on the wall

  • To the 9 emotions that inspired them

  • In just 9 minutes!

Complete the challenge successfully and you’ll receive a free limited-edition Onion City Memories art print — one of only 50, signed and numbered by me.

(This print above to be exact)

High stakes. Real emotions. Possible bad luck.
We’ll see who wins.

📍 Event Details

Date: Friday, February 13
Time: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Location: Connect Gallery

Will love win… or will bad luck take the night?

Come find out.

See you in Onion City,

Muddy

A Special Onion City Memories Event at Connect Gallery

In honor of my ongoing solo exhibition, Onion City Memories, at Connect Gallery, I’d love to invite you to a special two-part community event designed to bring you deeper into the world behind the work.

🎤 Part One: Artist Talk & Conversation

We’ll kick things off with an in-depth art talk, where I’ll be sitting down with my good friend and Seeing Sounds Podcast co-host Kiem of Wheat (@kiemofwheat).

We’ll dive into:

  • the stories behind each piece in the exhibition

  • my creative process and inspirations

  • the characters and world-building of Onion City

This will be a rare chance to hear the full narrative behind the work and get exclusive insight into how this world came to life.

🎨 Part Two: All-Ages Coloring Workshop

After the talk, we’ll switch gears into a laid-back, hands-on coloring workshop.

You’ll get to:

  • color some of my most iconic characters

  • create alongside me as your guide

  • bring your kids, friends, or just your inner child

Markers will be out, pressure will be low, and the goal is simple: have fun and step inside Onion City together.

📍 Event Details

Date: February 8 2026
Time: 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Location: Connect Gallery 1451 E 53rd Street Chicago IL

If you’re in Chicago, I’d love to see you there and share this experience with you.

Peace,

Muddy

Onion City Memories 2026 Solo Exhibition at Connect Gallery

I’m excited to officially announce that my solo art exhibition, Onion City Memories, will be coming to Connect Gallery in Chicago on January 16th, 2026.

📍 Location: Connect Gallery 1451 E 53rd Street Chicago IL
📅 Opening Night: January 16, 2026
🗓️ Exhibition Dates: January 16 – February 27, 2026

Welcome to Onion City

Onion City Memories invites you into Onion City, a fictional parallel world inspired by Chicago and other places I’ve lived in and traveled through. It’s a world built from memory, emotion, and lived experience — layered, complex, and constantly evolving.

Through my original characters, I explore:

· emotional highs and lows

· internal struggles and personal victories

· identity, resilience, and growth

Each artwork is narrative-driven, functioning like a panel in a larger storyboard. Individual pieces stand on their own, but together they form a broader, interconnected story — blending fine art painting with comic book illustration and visual storytelling.

About the Exhibition

Onion City Memories is designed as an elevated creative experience, merging contemporary narrative art, illustration, and world-building. This show brings together my original characters, concepts, and visual language into one cohesive space — allowing viewers to step fully into the world of Onion City.

My goal is not just to exhibit artwork, but to:

· immerse attendees in a living narrative

· bridge the gap between gallery art and comics

· spark curiosity about what comes next in the expanding world of Onion City

This exhibition is both a reflection on memory and a preview of future stories yet to be told.

Reaching New Heights - Art Book Kickstarter!

If you haven’t heard yet, after 3 months of hard work, we finally have a date for the release of my next art book. I’m so excited to announce that on April 27th I will be launching a Kickstarter campaign for my new 124 page art book “Reaching New Heights”!

The art book will include a 2020 compilation of my raw sketches, a step-by-step character drawing tutorial, my favorite marker & ink drawings, digital artwork, traditional paintings, creative projects, and the prologue to my first comic book!

The Kickstarter campaign includes 9 reward tiers with various bundle package options! I've really worked hard to put together a bunch of exclusive rewards that will only be available through this Kickstarter.

Mark your calendars, tell your friends and family, because everyone who backs this project will get their name printed in the special shoutout section of the art book! I hope to see you all on April 27th.

Your support will ensure the success of this project! See you then!
